Abstract

We recorded new distribution records of jaguar (Panthera onca) for the region known as the Lower BalsasBasin in Michoacán. These records constitute the clearest evidence of the species presence on the Biosphere Reserveof Zicuirán-Infiernillo influence area. These records strengthen the hypothesis that Michoacán presents suitable areasfor the jaguar presence. Is possible that the occurrance of jaguar is because the area is a corridor that allows mobilitybetween populations in the mountains of western Mexico and Pacific slope.
