Abstract

Amoreuxia gonzalezii is recorded for the first time in the state of Baja California Sur and for the CaliforniaPeninsula. It was found in the buffer zone of the Biosphere Reserve Sierra La Laguna. This species has been previouslyrecorded for the states of Sinaloa and Sonora in Mexico, and for Arizona in USA. Two species of this gender, A.palmatifida and A. wrightii, are included in the Nom-059-Semarnat-2010 in the status of special protection andendangered respectively. Taking into account that A. gonzalezii has a smaller range of distribution than the 2 Amoreuxiaspecies included in the Nom-059, it is evidence of the importance of this report.
