Abstract

The Revillagigedo Archipelago is located on the East Tropical Pacific; it consists of 4 volcanic islands. Clarion Island is the most western and remote island of this marine national park. The region is influenced by the cold currents from California and the warm waters of the North Equatorial current, creating a convergence zone, with high marine biodiversity. Clarion is a small and distant island, dominated by high cliffs with rocky sandy beaches on the south side, with hard-to-access areas for research. The objective of this contribution is to provide a species list of the sea slugs present on the island. The study was performed from January to March 2023, and February to March 2024, through a continual survey of the beaches, intertidal pools and shallow reef areas in the south side of the island. In total, we recorded 14 species of sea slugs, 13 were new records for this island and 5 new records for the Revillagigedo Archipelago. This study significantly contributes to the knowledge of the biodiversity of island heterobranch sea slugs of the Tropical Pacific.
