Abstract

We present a new record of the endemic fish Xiphophorus clemenciae Álvarez, 1959 for the Grijalva RiverBasin, Chiapas, Mexico. This is the first record found off the Coatzacoalcos River Basin in Oaxaca and Veracruz. Dueto their widespread distribution and high abundance, it will be necessary to apply the Method of Evaluation of RiskExtinction for Mexican Wild Species (MER) to update its status on the Mexican Law Nom-059-Semarnat-2010.
