A new Pilogalumna (Acari: Oribatida: Galumnidae) from Mexico

Abstract

A new species of Pilogalumna from the Ecological Reserve Pedregal de San Ángel, Mexico City is described from adult specimens of both sexes,this being the eighth Galumnidae species recorded from Mexico. Pilogalumna rosauraruizae sp. nov. is characterized by a combination of lamellarsetae longer than other prodorsal setae, sensillum lanceolated with capitulum slightly barbulated, postanal porose area present, pseudolamellaeabsent, and 20 setae on the first tarsus. Additionally, the 18S rRNA partial sequence is reported, and an identification key for worldwide speciesof this genus is provided.
